This time, we visited NONKI Japanese Restaurant (Mandaue Branch), a well-known spot among frequent travelers and residents in the Philippines.
The prices are slightly higher, but many celebrities visiting Cebu reportedly dine here as well.
Even though we visited during a weekday lunchtime, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was very busy.
Location & Basic Information of NONKI Mandaue Branch
It’s about 20 minutes from Mactan Airport and around 8 minutes from Mabolo (where CES is located).
Please note: There is another NONKI nearby—this Mandaue branch is the one next to Honda Cars.

Restaurant Atmosphere
The signage looks stylish and upscale.

The traditional Japanese curtain (noren) adds a classy Japanese vibe.

Inside, the atmosphere feels surprisingly authentic—almost like being back in Japan.

At the counter, skilled Filipino chefs prepare dishes right in front of you.

Menu at NONKI Mandaue
The menu is extensive—sushi, sashimi, grilled skewers, teppanyaki, seafood, donburi, curry, unagi, udon, soba, ramen, and more.

What We Ordered: Lunch Set
Tanuki soba + Tekka don (680 PHP)
Generous slices of tuna and very satisfying. The taste was surprisingly good considering it’s Japanese food in the Philippines.

The soba broth was slightly sweet and similar to the Kanto style. Flavorful and enjoyable.

The ika geso tempura was reasonably priced at 280 PHP, but the flavor was a bit lacking.
Prices are slightly higher than in Japan, but it’s rare to find this level of Japanese food in Cebu.
Many customers were well-off Filipino locals, not just Japanese expats.
Lunch is relaxed, while evenings offer more of an izakaya vibe. If you’re craving Japanese food in Cebu, NONKI is definitely worth visiting!
